‘We are the music makers and we are the dreamers of the dreams’
This line from poet Art O’ Shaughnessy could be used to describe the process of making music with children.
We are very lucky to have the Music Generation tutors working with all classes this year. Most classes have begun at this stage and I’m sure you are hearing at home what a wonderful experience it is. There are a range of opportunities including percussion, voice, keyboard, violin and a general immersion into discovering the wonderful world of music.
Music is a powerful medium through which the child’s overall learning experience is enhanced.
We are all excited to see the progress the children will make this year with Music Generation and are looking forward to sharing the experience with the wider public over time.
We are delighted to announce that we have recently received a very generous donation from local business Pet Stop. The owner John Mc Keown, who is a parent of children in our school has very kindly sponsored the purchase of two brand new kits for boys’ and girls’ teams. The kits look amazing and are going to make a lot of children very happy when they see them.
Thank you John.
Mr. Higgins deserves a special thanks also for liaising with the makers from design to delivery. Well done Mr. Higgins for all you are doing to enhance the children’s experience of playing our native sport.
For those of you who are unaware the children of Scoil Mhuire Agus Iosaf, from senior infants up to sixth, have written and published their very own book. It is a fantastic collection of stories, poems and more all by the hand of the children themselves. The book was compiled towards the end of the 2017/18 school year and is on sale from the school.
Please support this initiative on behalf of the children of our school.
There are still copies available to buy at the Senior School office.
Pop in and get yours before they are gone!!
