In Religion today we learned about ‘The First Crib’ and where the whole idea came from. It was St. Francis of Assisi who wanted to remember the birth of Jesus and include Mary, Joseph, the shepherds and the Kings who played an important role on this very special occasion. He, with his friend John, who lived in Greccio, set up the very first crib in the centre of the town. This idea soon caught on and it spread throughout Italy and neighbouring countries.
We walked to the crib in Collooney and took time to reflect on the importance of Christmas and to thank God for sending baby Jesus. Without Jesus there would be no Christmas 👼🏼🙏🏼.
