World Book Day 2023

We had a lot of fun on World Book Day in 2nd Class. We dressed up as characters from our favourite books. We designed our own book covers for our class novel The Twits. We also enjoyed reading the story The Magic Paintbrush. Later, in our drama lesson, we used our imaginations to paint using a magic paintbrush!

Grandparents Day 2023 in 2nd Class

We had grandparents, parents and other family members visit us in 2nd Class during Catholic Schools Week. We were celebrating Grandparents Day. We recited poems, sang songs and told stories. The grandparents and parents that came told stories about when they were our age, and it was a lot of fun. We made cards for our grandparents and drew a picture too. Have a look at our display below.

Fun in the Snow!

We have been making the most of the snow this week. We are so glad to have our new astro pitch so we can safely play outside in the snow at break time. We even managed to gather enough snow to make a small snowman!

Christmas Carols

On December 19th Second Class went to mass in our beautiful church. We sang Christmas carols.

Last week we visited the crib in the church and also looked at the advent wreath. We have been learning about Advent and the birth of Baby Jesus.

Science in 2nd Class

During October have been learning about famous landmark clocks in geography and about the history of clocks in history. We designed and made our own sundial clocks in science and when we brought them outside to try them out in the sun, we could see the shadow being cast on them. It was so much fun. Check out the pictures below!

Maths Week 2022 in 2nd Class

For Maths Week 2022 we did lots of extra ‘fun maths’! We also had a ‘Guess How Many Sweets in the Jar’ competition. Every day each person made an estimated guess. At the end of the week we counted the sweets and the people closest to the correct number got the prize! There were 51 sweets in the jar. Brian, Eli, Fionn, Charlie and Mohammed had the closest guesses and brought home a share of the sweets. Well done!
