Pupils in 4th class are getting the opportunity to participate in a course in cycling safety training run by Crank & Cog.
The course is aligned to Cycle Right, the National Standard for Cycle Safety Training in Ireland and is delivered by qualified trainers from the national register.
The course will take place during school time & will consist of 6-8 sessions with the pupils. Topics covered will include safe equipment, rules of the road, starting & stopping, road positioning, shoulder checking, turning left & right, overtaking & traffic manoeuvers. The “on road” training will take place in a quiet housing estate nearby.
All bikes, helmets & any other equipment are provided by the trainers.
The course usually costs €50 per pupil but due to Cycling Ireland’s kind donation the cost to our pupils will be €15 each.
This is invaluable training for all children to help keep them safe when cycling in the course of their daily lives. The training will start on Wednesday 27th February.
