Exploring Friction

In Science, we have been learning about a force called friction. We learned that objects move differently over rough and smooth surfaces because of friction. We carried out an experiment to see which surface would be best for a toy car to move along. We created a slope using cardboard and tested out different surfaces- carpet, clingfilm, tissue paper and tinfoil. We discovered that the car moved the fastest over the clingfilm because it was nice and smooth but the carpet was too rough and in some cases the car barely moved at all!
